When I traveled as a kid and would tell people I was from New Mexico, it wasn’t unusual to hear, “You’re not American?” or, “Isn’t that an island?” For some reason, people don’t seem to understand there’s a whole state out there, just to the left of Texas.
But the word is getting out. Now when I mention that my home state is New Mexico, I’m more likely to hear, “Wow, I love that place!” or “I can’t wait to go back to Santa Fe!”
The imaginative drone pilots at Flightgeist have gotten the message as well, and recently took a 1000-mile, one-week road trip through New Mexico. I’ve been lucky enough to see most of these amazing landscapes in person, but never quite from this perspective.
The scenic locations for their drone flyovers include: Highway 14 from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, Santa Fe National Forest, Taos, Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, Eagle’s Nest State Park, Gallup, Shiprock, The Bisti Badlands and Historic Route 66.
Check it out and you’ll start to understand why we call it The Land of Enchantment.
